1. Scope and developer contact
This Privacy Policy applies to Universal TV Remote, Android package com.velamote.tvremote (the “App”). In this policy, “we”, “our” and “developer” refer to the Universal TV Remote development team.
Privacy questions can be sent to easygamedevs@gmail.com. The App does not require an account and we do not operate a proprietary cloud service for remote-control data.
2. Information handled by the App
The App processes the minimum information needed to discover, remember and control compatible televisions.

The App does not request GPS location, contacts, photos or a Universal TV Remote account. Android backup is disabled for the App.
3. Local-network discovery and TV services
The App accesses Wi-Fi and network-state information and sends local discovery messages to identify compatible televisions. It can communicate with Samsung, LG, Roku, Android TV, Google TV, Fire TV, Philips, Panasonic and other supported profiles. Compatibility and available commands vary by model, firmware and TV settings.
Your television or its operating-system provider receives the requests needed for discovery, pairing and commands. Those manufacturers and services operate independently and may apply their own privacy policies. Streaming shortcut buttons ask the television to open the selected compatible app; the App does not collect your streaming-service credentials.
Voice commands
If you choose the microphone button, the App launches the speech-recognition service configured on your Android device. That provider may receive and process audio under its own terms. The App receives the recognized command result to perform the requested action and does not store it in an account or proprietary cloud.
4. Firebase, advertising, consent and third-party data
Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics
The App integrates Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics. Analytics can process app interactions such as the screen opened, discovery result and device count, TV platform profile, connection result and duration, generic remote-command type, streaming shortcut category, favorites count and settings changes. We intentionally do not include a television name, local IP address, MAC address, pairing credential, or keyboard or voice text in these custom events.
Analytics collection is disabled by default and is enabled only after the App's regional UMP privacy flow reports that requests are allowed under its current configuration. Store-screenshot builds keep Firebase collection disabled.
Crashlytics can process crash stack traces, app and operating-system versions, device state, diagnostic logs and related Analytics breadcrumbs so we can identify stability problems. Firebase may also process app-instance and device identifiers and approximate technical information under Google's terms. This data is not used to create a Universal TV Remote account. Google Mobile Ads
The App uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display banner, interstitial and app-open advertisements. According to Google’s current Mobile Ads SDK disclosure, the SDK automatically collects and shares the following for advertising, analytics and fraud-prevention purposes:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate general location;
- user product interactions, such as app launches, taps and ad interactions;
- diagnostic information, such as app or SDK performance and crash-related signals;
- device and account identifiers, including the Android advertising ID and app set ID when available.
The advertising data above is processed by Google rather than stored in a Universal TV Remote account. Google states that Mobile Ads SDK data is encrypted in transit. Learn more in Google’s Google Play data disclosure for Mobile Ads and Google Privacy Policy.
Regional consent choices
The App integrates Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP). Where required by the message configuration and applicable region, UMP can present consent or privacy choices before eligible ads are requested. When required, the App also provides an “Advertising privacy choices” entry in Settings so you can revisit available options. The exact message is configured and delivered through Google AdMob Privacy & messaging.
Depending on your choices, applicable law and Google’s serving rules, ads may be personalized, non-personalized, limited or used only for technical delivery. Even non-personalized ads can use limited identifiers or local storage for frequency capping, security and aggregated reporting.
5. Android permissions and capabilities
- Internet and network state: required for local TV protocols, Firebase diagnostics and usage measurement, advertising and consent services.
- Wi-Fi state and multicast: used to discover compatible devices on the same network.
- Wake lock: helps complete short connection or command operations reliably.
- Transmit infrared: used only on devices equipped with compatible consumer IR hardware.
- Quick Settings tile: provides a shortcut to open the remote; it does not read your notifications.
6. Retention and deletion
Saved televisions, local addresses, pairing credentials, favorites and preferences remain in the App’s private storage until you remove the relevant TV, clear the App’s storage or uninstall the App. Because there is no Universal TV Remote account or proprietary remote-data server, there is no separate cloud profile for us to delete.
You can delete all locally stored App data through Android Settings → Apps → Universal TV Remote → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the App. Removing a paired remote from the television’s own settings may also be necessary to revoke authorization on the TV.
Google determines retention for information processed by Firebase, Google Mobile Ads and UMP. Advertising-ID controls and other privacy controls may also be available in Android settings. Requests or questions can be sent to the contact address below.
7. Security
TV profiles and credentials are stored in Android’s app-private storage, and Android backup is disabled. We limit access to the functions required by the remote-control experience.
Some televisions use encrypted pairing and control protocols, while other legacy local-network protocols use unencrypted HTTP, WebSocket or broadcast traffic by design. Use the App only on a trusted home or private network, keep your TV firmware updated and avoid public or untrusted Wi-Fi for remote control. No method of storage or transmission is guaranteed to be completely secure.
8. Your privacy choices and rights
- Choose whether to add or remove a television and whether automatic reconnection, Wake-on-LAN or infrared fallback is enabled.
- Delete local App information at any time as described above.
- Use “Advertising privacy choices” in the App when UMP reports that a privacy-options entry point is required.
- Reset or delete the Android advertising ID and manage ad-privacy controls in Android settings when supported.
- Contact us to ask a privacy question or exercise rights available under local law.
Because we do not maintain an account database for TV remote data, we may have no server-side personal record that can be identified from an email request. Firebase and advertising providers handle requests relating to data they control under their own processes.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in their country. We do not knowingly create profiles of children or collect children’s information through a Universal TV Remote account. Parents and guardians should supervise device use and configure Google Play, Android and advertising controls appropriate for their family.
10. This website
This is a static support website. It does not include proprietary analytics, advertising trackers, account registration or contact forms. The language selector on the home page can save a language preference in your browser’s local storage. Following an external link or sending an email is handled by the selected third-party service.
11. Policy changes
We may update this policy when App functions, SDKs, legal requirements or data practices change. The revised version will be published on this page with a new effective date. Material changes may also be communicated in the App or store listing when appropriate.
